AI for Supply Chain Optimization
Jeff Ranch is the Product Manager and Supply Chain Leader for 3M’s Manufacturing and Supply Chain Digitization and Advanced Analytics (D&AA) group. Mr. Ranch’s responsibility covers supply chain product ownership and supply chain expertise for 3M’s digitization strategy team and leadership of 3M’s modeling/analytic teams.
Mr. Ranch has worked at 3M for more than 22 years. Before joining 3M D&AA, Mr. Ranch held a Global SC leadership role with 3M Digital Material and Systems Division, responsible for Product/Process flow, organization and SC communications with a highly international division. Previously, Mr. Ranch held roles in North American Distribution/DC, International Joint Venture, Acquisition Integration (SC/Systems), Supply Chain, and multiple process and product engineering roles.
Mr. Ranch holds a BS in industrial engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.

Gabrielle ‘Gabie” Heinzmann has eight years’ experience as a program manager and senior logistician for acquisition, supply chain and technology-based programs spanning the public and private sectors.
Gabie joined 3M in September 2018 as the project manager for INVENTO, a visualization and machine learning-based application used to better understand 3M’s supply chain data to enable more efficient, effective business decisions. Gabie is responsible for managing the requirements development, scope, planning, execution and overall strategic roadmap for this multi-phase project.
Prior to 3M, Gabie was a senior civilian logistician who worked at six Commands in the Department of Defense, including the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), Naval Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Navy Engineering Logistics Office (NELO), and United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). She specialized in acquisition logistics, policy development, operations and sustainment, and supply chain management.
Gabie is a 2009 University of Virginia graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Government and a 2013 recipient of University of San Francisco’s Advanced Professional Certificate in Supply Chain Management. She is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Advanced Program in Logistics and Technology (LOGTECH).
3M is driving its enterprise digital transformation using the C3 AI Suite. A key digitization focus area for 3M is to improve global supply chain visibility, yielding operational efficiency, improved service levels, and increased customer satisfaction. Jeff Ranch described 3M’s current business and technology landscape and the value 3M has unlocked by using the C3 AI Suite to deploy high-value supply chain applications such as INVENTO (3M’s inventory optimization application) and SPO (3M’s pricing optimization application). Mr. Ranch detailed how 3M is using the C3 Inventory Optimization application to enhance INVENTO, optimizing safety stock levels to minimize inventory costs while meeting target service levels.
