An Interview with Tom Siebel hosted by UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society.

As part of UC Berkeley’s “View from the Top” lecture series, Tom Siebel sat down for a fireside chat with Professor Shankar Sastry, former Dean of Engineering and current faculty director of the Blum Center for Developing Economies.

In front of a packed house of students and faculty, Siebel shared his thoughts on the benefits of and threats posed by AI and discussed themes from his book, Digital Transformation.

He addressed a number of topics, including:

  • The role AI-driven precision medicine will play in lowering the cost of healthcare and helping us live longer and healthier lives.
  • How continual learning is the key to avoid being left behind as AI transforms the workforce (and how ongoing learning is a key part of C3.ai culture).
  • And, the emergence of two distinct types of CEOs: those waiting for their pensions and those who are visionaries driving change at their companies, showing initiative, and making sure that what they do creates a sustainable future.
